iLink Cable / Firewire?

Got my self a camcorder to play with an obviously I want to transfer the video onto my PC to edit. Being a sony it says it has an i.Link port.

Reading up I think I've found that i.Link is really a renamed 4-pin 'firewire' port. Hence since I need a cable to transfer to my PC do I get a (mini) 4-pin to 6-pin cable? Correct?

Correct if you have a 6 pin firewire port on your pc, have a sony myself and use that to connect it.

Not done it before but how do you transfer video to computer? something similar to using usb and copy across?

If it's windows you just hook it up to the machine and launch the video editor of your choice. Windows Movie Maker 2 comes with XP and is more then adequate for getting the video off and having a muck about with it.
