I'm 34. What have I just done for the 1st time in my life?

Are you going to now find the Motors forum? :p

Stick with it whatever happens. I'm of the opinion that everyone should at least have the ability to drive. It makes things so much easier :)

Good man, just get the lessons done. Even if you don't need/afford a car thru out life it makes it so much easier having the bit of paper.

I am the same age and have to sort out the same for myself, as just never had cash before to get it done.

You've been using public transport for several years? How did you survive?

In my case this part of Scotland has a decent public transport system.

Really? I couldn't wait to learn to drive because the public transport was terrible :p.

Last offtopic post, when did you get unbanned Vixen? (note: she asked to be banned by the way)
You could easily check for yourself. Speak to you again in 6 months or so ;).

This is true, i put it off for 10 years since at 17 i couldnt see myself affording a car plus everything that went along with it.

Wish i wasnt such an idiot :)

It was only when I turned 20 I could afford, and justify having driving lessons.

I've been commuting to work by bus and train forever. Put about £1000-£3000 in the pot, possibly more (depending on what car you want) and use the rest of your money to buy your lessons and all your other commitments.

Even though I only started in October, I am thankful I started. My parents have never given me any lessons so I have had to pay for my lessons since then. It's not helped than I am a particularly slow learner - I've done more than 50 hours of tuition now!

Anyway, I have a test coming up very soon - hope I can go for it and the rest of my cash is going towards fixing up my Spitfire and my savings. Recently replaced the ignition coil and the rear differential and she is running again :)

Giving her a good wash in a couple of hours, might get some pics sorted too :)

When I have passed, I'll be getting my insurance and driving :D I can't wait at all!
