I'm a fool - forgot my mums birthday

Things have been busy at work recently and on returning home every day I've been switching off completely and going into zombie mode. As a result I just realised my mums birthday was on the 19th. I've been speaking to her on the phone and didn't even wish her a happy birthday. :o

I feel awful and want to make up for it. I was going to call today and apologise but thought it best to surprise her instead. Can anyone recommend anything I can order off the internet with a max price of say £50? I got her flowers for mothers day so I'd like to get something different this time.

Any idea what I could get? I suck at picking presents :o

A really expensive bouqet of flowers - well £50 isn't REALLY expensive :p

How about a jumper or subscription to a magazine she likes? Or a voucher for something like a spa weekend?

What you need is a website that lets you order somehting and they'll stick a note in apologising for the delay in your order and saying they had a problem with their warehouse. Unfortunately the only company I know that does this is figleaves and I don't think you want to be buying your mum lingerie :p

Maybe jewellery? Posh chocolates if she likes that kinda thing?

Or a nice night gown thing, old people like nice night gowns :p

Surprise visit home? Know she would love that. Just turn up and surprise her?

Gareth

I already have a trip home booked for the 20th and can't get any time off work before then. Good idea though, if all else fails I'll pull a sickie and fly home for a day!

Vouchers sounds like a good idea, especially for something like a spa weekend. As far as jewellry is concerned I wouldn't even have a clue where to start looking, I'd need some help on that one! :p

If I upped the budget to £100 that should give me more options.

Well I could bring her out for a candle light dinner but you would probably kill me after :D

I've got it! :D

It never occured to me before but she was always asking me to take her on a flight but due to weather and whatnot I never really got the chance. I thought it might be a good idea to take her somewhere for the day but it's going to cost me about £500+ to fly over to Ireland and hire a plane for the day. So, I'm going to get her a voucher for a flying lesson :D

Why the hell didn't I think of that before?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I feel your pain. Did that about 3 years ago and haven't forgotten since. Got my mum an iPod this year...

As for present ideas, how about tickets to go to a play or concert that you can go with her? Something to share rather than just give her.
