Please explain what cyclists do on the road. Don't confuse kids with BMX's with proper road cyclists. I'm a cyclist btw, and I have seen my share of bad car/van drivers also. Because we're more vunerable I think we have a right to be more scared/careful of idiot car/van drivers. Generally car drivers should give room for cyclists, rather than overtaking over a bridge, and squeezing past giving 6 inches of room.

I have walked between a car due to his inconiserate parking, I was wearing a metal studded jacket.

cut you up, smack your wing mirror, squeeze their way thru lines of traffic.Personally I don't think you have any right at all to be on the road without any insurance.

yay you and you "metal studded jacket" if you were in my way one day would it be ok for me to push you bike over and run over the wheels? I would not react well to a cyclist scratching my car because they decided it was in there way tbh.
 
A walkpath is for pedastrians, not cars. Do you complain if you get clamped parking in a no parking zone? If you car gets scratched by a mum with a buggy you have only yourself to blame. Do you think a pedastrian should walk onto the road because you've blocked the walkpath? :rolleyes:

A cyclist and motorcyclists cuts in between traffic, that's the whole point. I do notice car users get annoyed because we can get there quicker in rush hour, and a few times over a 10 mile journey I've beaten cars! Although there's a safe way to do this, and a unsafe way. If car traffic is stationary it is safe to go down the left side (if there's room) or if no oncoming traffic down the middle...if you've got the balls.

I've yet to smack a wing mirror out of my own riding, however a white van man smacked me on the shoulder with his wing mirror because he was driving too close.

If you smack a cyclist that would be attempted murder. You can't compare that against your "right" to park on a walk path.

i`m a cyclist and i`ve not once cut anyone up or smacked a wing mirror
i often squeeze through slow traffic though, and i dont see why anyone should have a problem with it , maybe its cycle rage? :)

The best way I have of describing this is the idea that "I dont fight tramps..."

When you engage or confront someone it shows a faliure to put yourself above them in other ways, so if you have a big confrontation with a scumbag you lower yourself to their level.

Which is why Mrs S may have been rolling eyes at you becasue you saw a moron and thought you needed to challenge him...
 
just saw "attemped murder" for smacking someone? hmmm, sorry but that is abh or gbh at best. Scratch my car get a smack frankly. So someone parks on the pavement and that means they deserve to have their car vandalised. It must be tough to be perfect. Hippy.

as for attempted murder- well i dont know the ins and outs but i guess a vehicle can be classed as a lethal weapon if theres intent to harm somebody

Ignoring all the usual cycle and car arguments that go on in threads like these, when people moan at me over trival things, the best response i've come across is "dry your eyes mate" they usually just shut up after that. Remeber old people have nothing better to do than moan :p
 
clearly a smack doesnt refer to running someone down, i am no pyscho! sorry but yes if I saw someone delibratly scraching my car I would hit them, same as I imagine you would if you saw someone damage your property. You could call the police, but what use is that when the person has ridden off and you have no way of tracing them. I call cyclists hippys because i used to work with the world most annoying cyclist / hippy and have since found out that being called a hippy annoys most bike riders. hippy.

i think most cyclists would just be confused as to why you were calling them a hippy, i cant imagine that many would care either

smacking or running down , its doesnt matter, once you decide to use your vehicle to injure somebody then you have turned it into a deadly weapon. Skin and bone doesnt stand a chance against 2 ton of steel

I'm no hippy, I'm a skinhead. I am not saying I would delibretly scratch a car, what I am saying if a car is parked so far on the kerb I will not walk on the road to get around it.

I do find some car drivers are inconsiderate to cyclists, they expect cyclists to not exist. We have every right to be on the road and feel unthreatened. And as another poster said, you are protected, a cyclist is not (read about one driver killing 14 cyclists in a single accident)
