I'm done with my 6MB BT connection. I don't even get 6MB speeds because BT like to cap it during peak times. I'm tired of getting slow speeds.

What ISP is currently the best to sign up with?

Thanks.

another vote for Be* O2 here, been with O2 for the last month or so and right from the minute i signed up, their communication with me was great :)

Is your exchange LLU enabled ?

i suggest Adsl24, or fast.co.uk, they are highly rated resellers of entanet.
I went from AOL to adsl24 and i love it, got my own control panel, can turn interleaving on off, look at my usage report. Paying £20 for 8mb, 30gb (from 8am-10pm weekdays) 300gb limit for weekends and from 10pm-8am every night. 1 month contracts, no cancellation fees, english call centre. All you could want from an ISP. Far better than the commercial ISPs

is it true that the upload speeds on both Be and O2 are better than that offered by Sky. I mean I see them both claiming 1.3Mbps upstream well up to, and obviously Sky claim 768kbps upstream so why are they different on their 8Meg connections when its technically gonna be through the same line?!

Anyways im in the bt boat but my internet is becoming increasingly throttled by the looks of things and its getting frustrating.

What does look good on the Sky front however is the fact they dont have a fair use policy at all and that means no throttling as far as im aware.

My bro has an o2 contract so his number should be enough to get me the 8Meg for 7.50 a month.

Thanks for the helpful replies. be2 isn't available in my area. :( Might go with O2 though.

Right now my DL speeds are around 200-300kb/s on a 6mb line. Its always slow at peak times! What a ripp off!

Be and O2 are the same people, so if you can't get one's LLU product you can't get the other - O2 offer a Home Access product which uses BT Wholesale (so should still be better than using BT Retail) but it isn't unlimited or as cheap.

Utility Warehouse have just announced upgrading their service from up to 8 to up to 24 with no increase in cost. £20 including line rental if they can put you on LLU. Many other benefits including free global calls. utilities-direct.co.uk

Is your trouble really BT capping or are you out in the sticks?

Another voice for ADSL24. Been with them 12 months now. Superb service.

(Just unhappy that Be / O2 have no intention of unbundling our local area (Ayr / Prestwick) - that would be the only thing that would take me away from ADSL24 - and I can't see that happening for the foreseeable, what with the economic downturn)

for some reason, Sky cap their ADSL2+ products at 16Mb down and 786Kbps up, no idea why.

we will push you to the limits of ADSL2+ (as far as you can possibly go, anyway), you'll probably find that even if you get 1Mb down, you'll still get 1Mb up :D

think he may have said he is on 6mb so the line is fixed at that speed by BT for stability, it could be the distance and the line or other objects near were the cabling is routing to get to the exchange, so the line at 6mb, what he means is he is sure that it is throttled although no explaination as to why he thinks it is !
