Here's the score.
Got my AM2 rig up last night, running as I wanted it. I didnt have sound for some reason even tho the drivers here installed and the sound worked, but Media player didnt let me play anything. Decided on getting a cheap card from a friend to use for now.

Just came home this evening, PC hasnt been on all day and just put in the new card and the PC wont start up for love nor money. If I overclock the CPU 1Mhz it just wont re-boot after. I also taken out the battery to re-set the bios, that works, but tried changing a few options in the bios and again it wont boot. I offically give up with this motherboard and CPU.

I was wondering if the guys at Overclockers might give me an RMA so I can swap the board and CPU for a Conroe model? I just cant be bothered with this setup not working anymore and quite frankly, I should have gone that way in the first place.

Anyone care to suggest something? Would be most greatfull. :) Thanks again for the advice in advance :)

what mobo/cpu do you have? i have am2, i got a 3800+ and an msi k9n neo, all worked perfectly and ive overclocked my graphics card and cpu on air and still perfect, try update bios or something, but its not nice to generalise am2 as bad because your setup doesnt work, i think its your mobo thats the problem, and if you have a bad mobo the best cpu in the world wont help. but on the other hand if you could afford conroe why dint you get that in the first place?

I have Abit Kn9 Ultra motherboard and a AM2 4600+ CPU..

I've updated the bios and it hasnt done a thing... I really dont know what the problem is with the system, I've never had any problems with any Abit boards at all... In fact I've choosen them over DFI's, Epox and Asus...

I dont know why I didnt get a Conroe, maybe because I thought it would work out more expensive to be honest.. I wanted a E6600 CPU and a decent motherboard, but I couldnt see a board I liked :(

I'm annoyed now :(

well its not broke because its am2 but theres obviously some problem, i agree also that there seems to me to be a confusion and mumbo jumbo of conroe boards, i wouldnt know what to pick. seems you'll have to seek technical advice.

I'm not saying its AMD's fault that there is something very weirdly wrong with this system, but I've tried turning it on again and the damn thing still refuses to post. I've taken the battery out now for 10 minutes and I'm hoping that will boot up in a second... I just want a PC that I can use!! This is not good!!

Do you suggest I ask technical support tomorrow about it or maybe sales suggesting a decent board for the E6600 CPU? I want a working gaming machine by the end of the week or else I'm gonna go nuts!!

well to be honest if you can go conroe by the sounds of things thats the way to go =] id get it if you can afford it, post about a motherboard on here, you might get a helpsull answer.

Further update...

I've disconnected the battery and done a bios reset and the board is still not turning on. Me thinks I have a dead motherboard for some reason... How annoying?

You shouldnt be taking the battery out. Use the reset bios switch, button or jumper. Never do this while the PC is on, always turn it off before resetting the BIOS.

If you have reset the BIOS and it wont boot at all now, not even into the BIOS itself then you should RMA the board.

When i have used the bios switch to re-set the bios, its not worked. Even now taking the battery out seems not to have an effect. Mind you since I have had the board, its not been 100%. I only came home yesterday to put the sound card in and then turn it on, did nothing else and then it never turned on!!
