I'm getting an iPod corrupted message when plugging into iTunes

Over the last few weeks I've been getting this message popping up when I plug my iPod Classic into iTunes. The simple fix was to eject it, reconnect it and it'd work. I got fed up with the message so I restored it and it seemed OK for a while but then yesterday I couldn't get it to accept the iPod at all, I just kept getting this same message.

So I restored it again. Today I've just plugged it back into my Mac and I'm getting the same message. The iPod itself seems to be working perfectly apart from this. Of course, it's a fairly major problem in that I can't sync it.

Is a trip to an Apple store the best bet or is there anything else I can do first?

With problems that are intermittent/recurring they tend to just take your word for it, it's easier for everyone. Either that or they might be able to get it to play ball but it doesn't sound like they'll be able to so expect a swap.

I restored my iPod again on Tuesday evening and by Wednesday it was giving the same error message. I went in at lunchtime today, spoke to Dillon (who looks like a less porky Chris Moyles). He plugged my iPod into his test Macbook and it recognised it straight away.

He ummed and ahhed about it, said "Well, it's working now" to which I explained that I've restored it twice in the last week and each time it's failed within a day. He *clickety clicked* on his system for about ten minutes then said "We'd not normally replace this but I'll put it through under 'customer satisfaction'".

So now I have a replacement sitting in my car with no music on it, guess I'll have to listen to the wireless on the way home tonight and hopefully it won't happen again.
