Yeah, so a friend of mine from Rovertech invited me out to a local cruise tonight, and having never been to one before I thought why not. I'm expecting to see some rather horrible looking cars (if you can even call them that), so am all prepared and am taking my camera with me.

The main reason I'm going, isn't because I'm a chav, but because the mate who invited me has a Rover 420 GSi Turbo (probably the rarest of them all) and I want to see how many other 'respectable' people there are driving Rovers :cool:

Anyway, expect this thread to be flooded with pictures when I get back.

Cruise = pile of poo.

Would never go to one again, grew out of that at the age of 17 when I could actually drive. Went a few times with mates when I was 16, generally just a meeting place/event for retarded young drivers to wheelspin, burnout, play utterly pathetic music very loudly and distorted, and get pulled over.

An actual meet is a far far far nicer place to be.

Bolton is always a good laugh. Although admitedly the people I go with tend to stay away from the main bit. And most of the laughs are at the cars other people turn up in. Some nice stuff sometimes though.

El, andi and Bennah it's in Rochdale tonight. Same organisers as the Bolton cruise. I think it's behind the town hall in Rochdale. I'm meeting a mate at Sandbrook at 8 and then he's showing me the way.

andi, if you can, come tonight :)
 
Anyway Andy, you shouldn't be going, you should be saving all your money for the camping meet, not frittering away on petrol ;)
 
Is a "cruise" the same as street racing?

Ususally when I go it's on a local industrial estate with about 1/4 mile strip. Just people racing 2 at a time. No burnout or music etc i think you would get laughed at. Oh an the cars are local cossies, 205 mi16's, FRST's ERST's etc no much chav slow cars put it that way.

Not sure it that can be described as a cruise tho, and it's something to do when your bored.

No, a cruise is generally being a prat in a carpark, possibly driving in convoy to another carpark and then moving on again when the "fuzz" arrive.

You of course get some idiots driving to/from/between the cruise locations, but thats inevitable with the croud tbh.
 
I don't usually do these, but it made me laugh at the possible inevitability :p

Ahh cool.

No I don't usually go to curises then i'm happy to say. Just slightly less chav street races. They are pretty safe tho, as far as street racing goes.
 
I went on a few cruises in the Mondeo. I beat all the chavs on the "sprint" down the dual carriageway by about 5minutes.

They were like yea yea we will have you on roundabouts. When there top speed is so low and it takes about 2hours to get to 30mph a simple 2.0l family car is all it takes.

I havnt been since then though as most of the people there were idiots.
 
Cruises are nasty mate, ive been to a few though :D Ive been to the Rochdale one your going to and its really naff mate, there's a guy they all look up to in a civic with a type r body kit - what makes it even funnier is that he cant afford to run it even though its not even a type r , you will see his missus there (blonde who is rough as hell) and she drives a fiesta - but thats his daily drive. Everyone else there is in more or less the same situation!

Bolton on a thursday (meet at the reebok and move on) is a good laugh though, you get the chav lot then the car nuts in two seperate groups though. Be sure you head off with the car lot or your gunna end up with burnouts and the filth :( A few years ago when the Evo7 was first released a girl i know bought a brank spanking new purple jobbie and had it taken off her by the filth at the Bolton cruise - she was parked up but because of all the crap that was going on she was made an example of because she had the best car there :(

Nothing wrong with a well organised cruise with like minded people though, there was one this sunday with members of OCUK that went well iirc :p Or do we call it a meet and its a different thing? :D
