I'm Going to Malta woo hoo!

thanks how about the water out there - is it safe to drink? or bottled everywhere we go... and not to use the water to brush teeth?

and

will it be cool enough at nights (in v early april) - should I take a jumper for night time etc

Do bring a jumper. The water is safe - but I recommend using bottled water to drink; it's ok for everything else.

For the benefit of a weather report, this picture was taken yesterday:

I went to Malta a few years ago, and there were way too many English people, seemed to be more of them there on holiday that actual Maltese people :p not to mention the numerous amounts of english/irish pubs. Nothing against all that, but not exactly what you want when going on holiday AWAY from England lol

It might be like that in St. Julians but I definitely didn't see that a couple of years ago in mid-summer

Loads of tips so far so I can't really add to it, but I remember Mdina being a cool place to look around. Lovely old walled city with no cars anywhere and a great view. Oh, I do remember the local beer was pretty good too! :)

You ask a lot of questions :p

I'm gonna jump in though. 4 of us going to Ramla bay http://www.ramlabayresort.com/

End of July, It's a little out the way so I was thinking about hiring a car, is it best to hire before I go or just pick one up cheap when there?

Agree with others the diving/snorkling is great, i stayed in gozo for a week which u will need to jump on a ferry to get to.Was really nice.

There is a small fort museum just near melhia bay, you can see it from the beach. The guy inside gave me a great tour, very interesting.

Eat the rabbit, its the island dish and is beautiful!

I'm sure I read somewhere we sold all our bendy busses to the Maltese? Could be wrong though.

how is the weather out there guys?

quick weather suggests it is around 20C :)
Warm for this time of the day. Saw the forecast, its all gonne be 14 min, 20 max, but the UV is going up to 8 at the end of the week!!! You can go for a pic nic like I did today at Ta' Qali. Weather is great for that atm. I go out in a half sleeved top and a jeans, and I feel a bermuda will just do me fine :P
Thanks
So a hoody at night will do right?

Sun cream or not?

I went out yesterday, and a thin hoodie will do fine. Its a bit chilly/windy but still pleasant. If you are going clubbing, were even less. Its bloody hot in there!

Spend a week in Gozo last year brilliant place for relaxing, everyone speaks English. The roads are not great in parts and the driving by the locals is pretty bad but at least they drive on the left and signs are all in English.

Mdina on Malta is a top place and a day in Gozo is a must, also lots of British military history if you are into that.
