Planning on kicking off our honeymoon with a 4 night stint in New York in July which I'm pumped about. I've only been to NYC as a child and so I can't wait to put together a food and drink itinerary to get stuck into.

I've scouted round a few websites for reccos but aside from the usual Katz deli and Joe's pizza, do you have any personal recommendations for great eating spots (not too fussed about fine dining, would love to check out more neighbourhood/family run joints) and some good drinking spots?

I'm thinking of trying to do a tour of the best pizza spots, best burger joints, best happy hours, best steak, best cocktails at different places and also checking out a variety of rooftop bars!

Were staying in Soho so a fairly good spot I think but I know there is bound to be loads to of places to visit in Brooklyn and other places outside Manhattan.

Please share any personal recs (along with pics if you can!) As that would help massively :)

leos bagels financial district just awesome.
dallas bbq.
katz
shake shack :)
Thanks mate, but Shake Shack though? Is it different to what they sell over here?

Used to live in Brooklyn so here's a couple of the top of my head

I recommend taking a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Dumbo (get the ferry from pier 11 if you don't want to walk) lots of great places around there to eat and take a walk along the piers for great views of Manhattan

Time Out Market - Dumbo - lots of great places here but really recommend Forninos on the rooftop great pizza and amazing views of the financial district especially at night

Grimaldi's or Juliana's - Dumbo - Two of the best pizza places in NYC. Read up on the history between these two it's quite interesting.

Le Boudoir Atlantic Ave - Brooklyn - one of my favorite bars it's a little speak easy with some interesting cocktails

Cafe Luluc - Smith St - Brooklyn - great breakfast/brunch place with the best pancakes in NYC IMO

Also if you like beer the Brooklyn Beer brewery does tours it's in Williamsburg Brooklyn it's a 20 min Uber from Manhattan
Amazing, thanks mate, we fancied just spending a day over in Brooklyn having a wander around stopping off in various bars and food spots so this is really helpful! I think we probably will do the Brooklyn Beer tour just for the craic whilst we're there.

Sadly not, the closest thing is probably a dive bar like Rudy's in Hells Kitchen $4 a pint and a free hotdog
Can't knock a $4 beer!

Generic pizza places and planning around restaurants is quite boring tbh. Plan a few favs in, but don't focus your whole trip around it.

If you want something epic and honeymoon worthy then book a show at "The slipper Room". Book the earlier one, as there's also a later post-midnight show.

Get there for doors opening so you get guaranteed seats and table service for drinks. Otherwise it's standing. Then you can keep the seats for both shows.

Think burlesque, acrobatics, jokes, more burlesque and sometimes something even more wacky on the post-midnight show. Easily the best thing we did in NYC

Drunk shakespeare was also brilliant and near Times Square for before/after plans.

The Highline walk is also fantastic, do it on a day with nice weather and hit it up in the morning before the crowds get there.
I'm not planning it all around food, just want to make sure we hit up a few key spots whilst we're there.

Thanks for the tip on The Slipper Room, i'll check it out, sounds fun!
