I'm just trying to get my head around Microsoft's stupidity

So the original 360 doesnt let you put game saves to USB sticks, you have to buy proprietary memory cards & hard drives. And you need proprietary data transfer cables to transfer ONLY to other original 360 consoles.

And then, the new 360 slim does not work with any of that nonsense and lets you use USB sticks to put game saves on. But you can transfer game saves from the older consoles.

Genius!

Its a good thing I don't own a gun, I think I'd off myself when I try to imagine the lack of logic and common sense over there.

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear.

I thought it was a dash update that enabled using a USB drive to move data, before that I thought a transfer cable was necessary.

This answers it.

There was a time when moving data from an old 360 to a new one was not as simple as plugging in a USB stick.

That is what my rant is directed at. The idea that M$ released a new console that did not have a simple way to transfer data across to.

They didn't though the USB storage update was released in April 6th, 2010 the first territory to get the 360S was North America on June 18, 2010.

Keep failing please, it's really amusing.

I'd give it up now if I was you tbh... :)

Using homebrew isn't an offence last time I checked.

Most people that offer any mods, firmware alterations, modchips or guides generally give you this line aswell

"We do not support, nor encourage potential infringements of others intellectual property rights"

Do you want to guess why?

Just noticed the OP has listed they work in the Apple store as a Genius...

Must... Resist... Too easy...

:)

You just can't make this stuff up! hahahaahaha
To the OP - I got a 360S the day they came out, I put my saves on usb sticks and took down my old 360 to trade in against the price of a new one. This should tell you that it's been available for quite a while and the last thing MS would want to do is make it difficult to be an early adopter of their upgrade.

A jtag machine offers great many advangtages, like modding games, not having to swap discs, using non-MS harddisks, being able to play online without using Xbox Live, using homebrew. You don't HAVE to act illegally whatever you may believe.

You paid for the hardware, so why not use it as you please.
