Im new here, thought id post up my system spec and have a few questions...

I built myself a new system as my P4 3.4 Skt478 was getting very long in the tooth. My new system I purchased from where I work (I build computers but am not too knowledgable when it comes to overclocking etc)

Antec 1200 case utilising all 120mm mounts with Antec tricool fans
Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard (with latest bios)
AMD Phenom 955 3.2GHz CPU
Corsair H50 cooler with antec tricool fans in "push/pull" configuration
8GB Corsair "Dominator" ram
Crossfired XFX 1gb OC Radeon 4890s
WD Velociraptor 150gig 2.5'' HDD
Corsair HX750 PSU
1X Sony DVD-RW

My newest edition is the H50, but I am dissapointed with its cooling abilities, it doesnt seem that much better than the stock AMD cooler except when it is idling in windows, soon as its under load the temp goes sky high. I tried to clock the system up using the AMD clocking utility and the system got to 3.6ghz at which time it reached its thermal limit at 62'c and rebooted the system.

The system is in tip top order, I have dusted out all the fans, system etc, removed the stock thermal paste from the H50 base and the cpu and applied antec silver paste evenly. I have made sure the pump is the wrong way up as apparently this helps the flow. Both push/pull fans are set at same speed and full speed at that.

Once I have sorted the H50 cooling issue Im hoping to OC the graphics cards, ram etc but from what I have been reading there is quite a bit of negativity about the H50, and the H70 is out now.

Opinions, thoughts and advice most welcome.

what is your room temp? Have you installed the H50 correctly, using good thermal paste etc?

Hi there, my room temp is about 23'c and I think its installed correctly, followed the insttructions. Checked the pump is seated firmly and making contact with the cpu, applied silver thermal paste to both CPU and pump plate evenly.

I have also tried running the intake and exhaust fans at different speeds to see if case air pressure is an issue.
 
Do you have the fans pulling air in from the rear of the case also it works best with the pipes connected to the radiator to be at the top of the case and the pump with the corsair logo the right way up not upside down. My cpu is overclocked at 4017Mhz and my internal case temps is 27'c and my cpu is at 34'c with only 1 fan at the rear bringing cool air in from outside the case. Dont really need 2 fans in push/pull as there isnt much of a temp difference only really need it if your running your cpu under full load which shouldnt be that much. Also make sure the pump is connected to a fan header that isnt controlled by the motherboard or software it needs to have a constant connection of 12v. Other than that i would try using a different thermal paste and reseat the block.

Also with all that hardware why only a 150GB HDD.

I have the 3x 120mm fans at front bringing cold in at full speed, I have one fan at back of case pushing air out at full speed, the 200mm fan at top expelling the hot air also, the case side fan is also set to intake and the internal fan that sits behind the front mounted fans is also set on intake at full speed. Also have the corsair ram cooler cooling the memory. So I cant see my internal case temp being that high.

I have tried seating the pump both ways round. The rad is mounted with the piping mounted on top and I have just applied Antec silver paste to both the cpu and pump base.

Also, the connector to the pump isnt connected to the cpu header, its on one of the regular chassis fan connectors.

Why a 150gig drive? ... I have everything else backed up externally (I have only used 27gig on the raptor) System runs great, only 38 processes running and at idle cpu usage is 0% and physical memory at 16%
