I'm Think of getting another dog

Those health problems are enough to say it's inhuman to continue breeding pugs, rather than a healthy breed.

You're putting animals through all of that discomfort and pain just because you find them more pleasing with a squashed up face.

Dude, take this in the manner with which i mean it to be taken, but chill out. I like my little dogs with their squashed up faces.

As for the health issues, I do agree, but we look after them and hopefully they'll stay healthy for as long as possible. Not that I like to think about it, but if any issues were raised by the vet, then I'd take action.

And just to clarify, the points I raised above were purely a warning to the op, he asked for info and I've passed it to him!

I don't intend to argue, I've neither the time or the inclination!

Hope that doesn't come across too snotty, just my 2p.

Quoted for truth!

Have you ( OP ) considered a Beagle? They are small, even tempered and generally healthy. They are a bit headstrong and do have a tendency to disappear on the trail of a scent when out for a walk but they are lovely dogs.

Looks Like the spinger it is me and the GF have made our minds up were gunna get a bitch springer the small one cavolier or what ever

thanks david

i`d love to get a another dog
but i live on my own and work nights
so its not fair on a puppy to be on its own 9hrs anight plus my sleep time
thats way to much time on its own
some poeple wouldnt be bothered about it but its really not good for them to be on the own 16-17hrs

No offence but..... Springer and cavalier are both different breeds of spaniels. Have you actually looked into any of the breeds you are thinking about getting your self? Their personality/exercise requirements etc etc most spaniel types are working dogs and as such will need a lot more excercise/training/games that the staffie to remain happy.

But regardless of what I say you'll probably go buy one anyway then come ask why it's being so hard to train etc on here.

+1

We have a springer on the farm, she gets free roam of the land we have, and she will still want to go for walks and play.

Training her was easy, but that was with nightly lessons and taking her to the local training classes to socialise.

Springers are good :)

But as Kahn says they are a working dog, so will need working and will need to use their brain...cough...well...atleast use their nose ;) So it'd be nice if you have a nice field near you to do things like this.

And naturally they are crackers, just a word of warning :p

Look uo the breed before buying, and that goes for any breed :)

If you want a springer but don't have enough time for them, consider getting a cocker, they're small and require less exercise but have very similar characteristics/mannerisms :)

Not to mention the massive health problems that the cavalier breed has, ie Syringomyelia and mitral valve disease. I really do wonder how much longer that breed will exist considering there is a now a prevalence rate of something ridiculous like 95%.

I wasn't going to go into that due to the pedigree chump bandwagoners coming along again.
