Images of items I have purchased (except trainers [no feet pics])

Am done with headphone amps, found "the one" so that's that until something better comes out for the same money otherwise nothing else can seemingly come close it seems.

What's the end game headphone amp? the Topping DX 3 Pro + ?

Fiio K11 R2R.

I had the DX3 P+ and it's too bugged with a crap volume dial and too expensive so not good value for money.

I was looking at that Fiio but settled for ONIX Alpha XI1 for now. I do want a more "desktop" solution later, but want to make sure my HD600 can scale with it first or worth it.

the Alpha will certainly give a taste of what's possible yeah

Nice to see they didn't cheap out on the components or design, external power supply is 48V 5A, so the amp gets rather hot
Why does that make the amp hot?

p.s. I sometimes wonder why does it need so much voltage to drive headphones, it's not exactly moving much air. 48V? My Dyson is running on half that.
Voltage is more or less irrelevant as it will be converted down (or up) to whatever is needed. Generally with anything modern and digital-ish it's just more efficient to deliver lower amps at slightly higher voltages.

It's twice the power adapter output of the old amp's power adapter and the amp is bigger too yet generates over twice the heat in use so clearly there is a power correlation there with the heat generated.

Realistic end-game desktop solution for the HD600 on a budget would be something like the JDS Labs ATOM Stack, or even better the JDS Labs Element IV, one of the best reference DAC/AMPS I've heard under 1K.

My incredibly old Airpods are showing signs of death so bought these Sony XM5s with a nice discount

Having never owned a pair with the feautre I'm mot sure if I'm disappointed with ANC or managing my expectations with what it can and can't do

If its underperforming, check the seal on your ear - makes a huge difference

Cheers - been trying to the various tip sizes it comes with (there's four of them) and having not worn earbuds before it takes some adjusting to wearing. I live right by a train track and busy motorway so would like to be able to cancel out a lot of stuff like that...

I usually rotate mine anti clockwise into the ear so it goes right into the canal, not sure how you are popping them in but see if that helps

Whilst in ear buds have come on a lot with ANC over recent years, I would think you want some decent over ear headphones to cut out things like trains and motorways?

Some feet. Worn out my Sektors - well, the stupid fabric lace tabs have worn out, which is annoying. Shouldn't have the same issue this time, as these have proper eyelets. Alpinestars J6 Pretty comfy, could do with a gear change pad though - upshifts feel a little vague at the moment.

Also , because I work in a kitchen and am constantly washing my hands, they dry out. This is pretty much the best hand cream for me. Pricy, but well worth it!
