Immigrants taking council homes.

Having watched Trevor McDonald tonight I disgusted at the smear campaign this government launched against Margarete Hodge on her views on the allocation of council houses.

Her views were labelled as BNP for daring to say the allocation of council houses should be more transparent and based on NI contributions. Basically they were saying she was being racist. As it transpires they were using completely fabricated facts. They won't tell you how many immigrants have council houses, and they won't tell you how many immigrants are on the waiting list for council houses. They say it is a sensitive subject.

I do think that people born in this country should take priority over people who emigrate here when it comes to allocating council houses and based on the contributions to the state.

It is sickening this open door policy that Britain has. It is sickening that if you question this policy you are instantly labelled a racist. I hope Brown changes the direction that Blair has took the Labour party with its sleaze, back handers and smear campaigns. Although I don't hold my breath for one minute.

She didn't just talk about transparency and NI contributions - she said natives should get precedence of housing.

What is wrong with British born people getting precedence of housing? I think that is a perfectly valid viewpoint, and possible what a lot of people think but dare not to because of comments such as yours or being instantly being labelled a racist.

Aye, she did.

"We should look at policies where the legitimate sense of entitlement felt by the indigenous family overrides the legitimate need demonstrated by the new migrants," she said.

"We should also look at drawing up different rules based on, for instance, length of residence, citizenship or national insurance contributions, which carry more weight in a transparent points system used to decide who is entitled to access social housing."

I don't think she said anything specifically, but she made a few vague claims that we should 'look at'

if the problem was taken care of in the first place and so many migrants werent allowed in, in the first place then surely we wouldnt be in this problem in the first place?????

surely if they were to take care of both issues at the same time then there wouldnt be these types of issues happening.

that and the fact of the government paying for children of the families that come over here that arent even in the country.

There are some many issues that need to be taken care of along with this housing issue that it makes me sick.

As do I. I'd be pretty damned annoyed as well if an immigrant got a council house instead of me.

Why?

What if it's an immigrant who's making a useful contribution to society?

if you live in an area like where i live ie near an airport you will NEVER get a place
i now of lots of people who have been told if you aint preggers or an immigrant forget it

Actually, basing it on NI contributions would be a great system - would stop the scrounging wasters of all nationalities and creeds from sponging off the state, not least of all the white anglo saxons. Living in an area with very little immigration, its the white dole scroungers who go straight from picking up their giro to the pub that wind me up far more than anything else.

Well, I guess you're right. After all, it is a basic axiom of the universe that anyone from another country in a council house is a "ponce".

send them all back and the ones that were born here send them somewhere else

I'd link us all to a lovely little Chris Rock sketch on youtube if it weren't for the copious swearing.

Given the very fact that they need council housing I doubt very much that the 'British' people will have contributed much to the state in the first place.
Now that a lot of council housing stock has been sold off what is left is in very poor condition and in areas that no one wants to live in.

When my Nan needed a gaff for herself she was told they had no more left to give as the rest were assigned for asylum seekers.

Heres the best part of the story there was no one allocated to the houses but they would be allocated when an asylum seeker needed one.

wow new topics being discussed here.Not.

everyone still got their same opinion as 2 days ago? Yep.

Good show, carry on
