Imreza v Skyline v Mit. Evo

No, end of story is when you explain which other production cars have flat four engines.

although, i live in plymouth during term, as i'm at uni there. And i know the sort of subaru's that are around there, driven by steering wheel sniffers, with their latest hardcore dance albums blaring out.

i think that looks fantastic, although not the best choice of colour IMHO.

Are these cars truly comparable? I mean, the Evo and Impreza are both basically road legal rally cars. The Skyline would handle well at all on a rally circuit would it?

Surely the Evo and Imp. are in one class and the Sky in the other?

The Scooby engine sounds the same as all the others. It's the uneven exhaust manifold that gives it that noise.
Remove the manifold as some owners do to replace with a better tubular manifold and it will sound like a Nova!

Going back to the OP, Skyline all the way.

Straight 6 turbocharged engines just sound glorious.

Yes and no, they're all Jap 4 wheel drive cars, and thus are often compared. Obviously if the Skyline was heavily tuned then yes a different class. But if all had the same power, then it would be the Evo and Scooby in the different class due to the weight of the Skyline.
Don't forget, Skylines aren't all that fast standard.

the subaru isnt massively different as its a performance car with a boxer. (turbo at least). the porsche is also a performance car with a boxer. no point in comparing the scubaru to other "standard" cars because it isnt one...

and in terms of standard or performance subaru's are now more than 10 a penny on the road:/

edit;

i take the skyline GTR r32 or R34.

Yes but the Scooby and Evo are permenant 4WD rally cars where as the Skyline in GTR form at any rate is AWD but only when it needs to be and is classed as a GT car.

In terms of class like that then yes, different class. But I was only talking about the performance side, as most people seem to think that a Skyline is a tarmac shredding car out of the factory - when really it needs a few tweaks first :p

What about the non-turbo 'Sport' models like the one thingymabob on here has?

Yes, they sound like an old Alfa or VW with the volume turned up.

I wonder how many of the "ZOMGZ!!!!! BOXER!!!!!!!!!" faction have heard a fast Type 1 or Type 4 engine...?

a 300bhp aircooled vw is spinetingling.

a 300bhp impreza sounds flat and dull.

yes they are still a sport or performance model, not a 1.2 corsa standard car.

my mate now has an old estate 2.0 non turbo with like some 4" exhaust going on. it is loud!

Personally, i'd kinda like an evo. Preferably VIII or IX.

What have they done with that evo X, you can tell they arent running rallies anymore :(
I had heard that they are planning on making a return to the WRC I think in 2009 or 10. It can't come soon enough TBH, there's a severe lack of manufacturers supporting the WRC at the moment.

Anyway, how can anyone say no to this, even if it has been driven by a crazy Italian ;).
