Okay, i'll admit. I wanted to net a bargain so I was at Gallions Reach Next today ready for the sale which opened 4.00 am (got there 3.30 and the line was about 1/2 kilometre long! )

Right, you hear it all the time that there's a large bunch of people. People bumping, shoving, elbowing etc. I mean, i'm a guy who gets angry quick, but even I understand if someone barges me out the way, just act tough because everyone's getting the same treatment, and tbh I wasn't any different: pushing and shoving.

So, to the point. There was this lady, that bought an infant in a pushchair. AN INFANT! And she was complaining on how not to push her because she had a baby. Tbqfh I reckon she's in the wrong. Why bring the baby? Surely if she wanted to shop for the baby she'd know the size etc. Surely, it's pretty silly bringing the baby?
Okay, i'll give some slack, she may not have got someone to lookafter the baby in time or there may have been a problem. But why go in the first place and jeapordise being hurt?
4 fully grown men got into a rumble in the morning because people were pushing and shoving. The Ambulance's were called because people fainted.

But that's my opinion.

Anyone else go to the sales?

Edit: Just to add, it wasn't me pushing the lady, everyone else was, but I was there and saw everything.

People line up for .5km at 3:30am on December 27th for a NEXT sale? And get into fights over it? PLEASE TELL ME YOU KID!

OMG.

What is wrong with some people? :|

I'm a bit bemused as to what exactly everyone buys.

Whenever I look in the sales all that is on sale is tat that no one bought throughout the previous year or out of date electrical items, pretty much the same stuff that is on sale all year round.

And from what I have heard most of the stuff bought in the sale gets sent back within the next couple of days anyway as the person realises they dont actually want it.

She probably took the baby to ensure she had room, and to block things if she was looking at something and didn't want them all to disappear :) Should have moved the pram and she'd have soon followed it.

It depends a lot of shop offer 10items at stupidly low prices. Normally the shop staff get them though.

Computers for £150
£1400 worth of tv for £200.

But only a couple at each store.

IMO sales are a con that entice customers to purchase items that they have no interest in merely because they are at a low price. I would much rather decide I want something, then go out and buy it at an acceptable price, than come home with a "bargain" that I did not desire previous to seeing it in the shop.

There is no way in hell I would queue up at 4am for any sale, especially Next.

All the pushing and shoving is ridiculous too. Its all just composed mainly of cheapskates who dont buy anything all year and then wait for the sales to buy their entire wardrobe.

I couldn't imaging going out at that time in the morning for a sale... we were all still up drinkin then

What do you expect from the kind of people willing to get up at 3am to get a £10 off a pair of jeans or the like.

Absolute madness.

Most of Next's stuff is ok, but it's overpriced normally - hence why people flock to the sales.

Had Next not rip the eyes out of their customers sockets by charging them silly prices, there would be none of this "queue here for 1000 hours at 4am, to get discount prices".

What gets me, is why can't the idiots look at the sale prices and say to themselves "ohhh, so that's how much profit they make on that"....

I'd say most retail outlets makes in excess of 50% profit per item.

My wife reckons Next buy in loads of cheap junk to put in the sales. She reckons there's loads of stuff in there that they have never had during the rest of the year, then they put it in the January sales at an allegedly discounted price.

She reckons Tesco are doing the same this year too with all kinds of crap, more than just clothes.

Dude, you was just as silly as her - Sales are not sales, its bringing the prices back to what they should be, so they can sell all the useless crap and junk that wouldnt sell at there stupidly over-inflated prices.

Casmeister.
