Ok, so I locked my bike up outside a local shop to go inside and get myself a panini, 2 minutes later I come out and it's gone

Had a word with the insurance company and it's insured for about the £500 mark... Now I'm after a full susser for that amount and I can't seem to find any decent ones (see also: not from Halfords) from larger retailers, I've had a search and can't find the bike (2009 G4 Challenge Dual Disc) anywhere in stock.

Now, as much as you'll hate me for this I'm looking for another full suspension bike, purely because I have a dodgy back and it helps cushion against the stupid amount of potholes in and around York (more than you'd believe) and I'm after disc brakes (I know I've no chance of hydros for that but a good set of mechanical brakes would be nice).

So tl;dr
Need a full sus bike with decent brakes, that I can put road tyres on with no problems.

Thanks in advance

id would really re consider the full sus option. you would get far far much more for your money with a hardtail. you could use a suspension seatpost for back purposes if its really needed but first i would try a bigger capacity tyre that will absorb bumps better. something like whats aimed at 'street' riders. slick and big

Hmm, the trouble with that is it's more money and being employed on £4.82/hour with no guaranteed hours I'm not in the best of circumstance to spend more money than I need to (especially as I owe over £300 out)

I'm not sure a Specialised Hardrock Pro with a slightly cushioned seat will work as well as a full susser, but I suppose I could consider it (I say that as I know it's nicely in budget and a nice bike to ride, so I hear)

It's more than suspension that will make a bike comfortable. The right shaped seat (doesn't need to be cushioned) and decent speced components like wheels, handlebars and seat post will all have impact on your back as will the right geometry (high rise bars/stem, saddle position)

Perhaps look for a decent 2nd hand bike for around £300. Add a suspension seatpost/tyres/saddle or whatever and pocket the difference?
