In the market for Clio 172. (spec me?)

That's reasonable considering that's a quote from a fairly mainstream insurer. It's also not a bit faster, is so much faster it isn't funny ;)

But I have not crashed for over 6 years, my Yaris can do 100 mph so dont see what faster acceleration has to do with it and the Yaris is worth more than the Clio so work that one out.

I'm guessing that clio's, more notably the 172/182, get binned more than the yaris, so insurers will take this as a bigger insurance risk. The same reason the RS4 is weirdly cheap to insure, far less are crashed in comparison to most hot hatches. Postcode and age will factor in a big way, but power, engine size and groups don't really make a huge difference. The amount of insurance claims on that car will prove to be the big factor.

I'm the same to be insured on a type r as I am on an E92 M3.

You can get to that speed faster meaning you could achieve faster speeds in built up areas resulting in a higher % probability of a crash or most deffinatly killing someone.

If you've driven one you'll understand why insurer's bend us over for the premium. Very chuckable cars and people quite often chuck them past their limits.

I am 27 not 19, does NCB count for nothing these days?

cheets in trolling shocker

How and who am I trolling?

At 27 I was paying about £300 for insurance on a 172, 6 months ago when I was 29 it was about £200.

Insurance prices in general have gone up in the last 6 months or so.

I'm 21 so get slapped with premiums worse than you do.

Last year I had quotes of around £8-900 on the 182 with Churchill who I was at that time with on my 1.4 banger of a Corsa. They then want £1300 come this summer when I actually have the car. Cheapest I ended up with was £1071 basic premium total was £1171 come the time admin fees and extra were added on. That was Flux (Via Marker Study).

I have 4 years NCB. Sky wouldn't insure me as I didn't have any experience driving a powerful car

The price you have to pay to have a powerful car unfortunatley. You can't deny that you won't boot it every now and then or sling it round round abouts because if you didn't you wouldn't need a powerful car and would be quite content pootling along in a Jazz.

Powerful cars are fun and expensive unfortunatley! :(
