Ince Sacked

shame. maybe it was a touch too early. he was doing the right thing by starting low.

Kinda sad, but I'm not surprised. He really should have stuck to the lower leagues for a few more seasons.

But then Blackburn shouldn't have appointed him in the first place. They were over-achieving under Mark Hughes, and to expect another youung manager to pull off the same trick was a bit naive.

Feel a bit sorry for the guy, but I do think Blackburn was perhaps a bit too much to take on this early in his career. The sacking was always going to happen after their recent run of form; it's all well and good saying that they should have stuck with him to see if he can't turn it around over the next few, softer, fixtures, but then if they do that and it turns out he's definitely not the man for the job, the transfer window has then been and gone and a new manager won't be able to supplement the squad in any way.

Great news for Blackburn. He was clearly out of his depth and would've got them relegated. You don't improve a top 10 side by selling your best players and buying League One players FFS!

Hardly surprising news, was just a case of when, not if. He ought to return to League 1 or the Championship to get a bit more experience and then have another crack at the Prem. It was a bit stupid of Blackburn to appoint him in the first place anyway.

But then Blackburn shouldn't have appointed him in the first place.

Blackburn have only themselves to blame. I think in the future, with more experience, Ince could be a top manager. But this was far to early for him.

I feel sorry for him and hope he gets back into management as quickly as possible. Hopefully with a Championship club.

Did he even buy anyone? Blackburn just suck this year and its partially his fault, Olsen against Lennon was always a total mismatch, why would you play a young inexperienced and probably slowest left back to grace the league in years, against the fastest. Lennon is utter crap unless you put him up against the slowest players around then he looks marginally good, asking for trouble. The first yellow, infact his first attempt to tackle showed he would be red carded soon enough and he failed to change it around at all, joke.

but their squad is infinitely worse than last year. They lack a battler, Savage wasn't as bad as people say, he does the standing between playmaker and throughball pass quite well, closes down and never stops trying. Tugay was world class but too old now. Neilsen got in some good seasons but has been slowing down a lot and this year was the breaking point between just staying good and truely terrible. He inherited a squad that couldn't do well this year and lost probably their most important midfielder, they were going to be bottom half with deep troubles without serious reinforcement this year even with Hughes incharge. However, Hughes would probably have bought in suitable replacements.

The question is did Ince not bring in the right people, or did the board not trust a young manager with big money transfers or was it the board or Ince that didn't realise how badly Tugay/Neilson had aged and how massively important they were. Two very average defenders play much better than one very good one, and one so slow, old and past it that he can't keep up.

Shows how realistic championship manager was I guess. Any time you got a vote of confidence on that game you always knew you were getting sacked :D.

Paul Robinson strikes again :(

If you look at his performances hes been one of our better players this season. If youre going to lambast the performances of any players this season, look at Roque Santa Cruz and Morten Gamst Pedersen. People who have for the most part this season, looked uninterested and in the case of the former, look as if they can't wait to leave the club in January.

Ince's tactics have been something of a weak point this season, for example his insistence on playing Warnock in midfield still baffles me. We put him in left back against Liverpool and hes superb, but then move him for the Wigan game. His exclusion of Derbyshire and McCarthy who clearly have more hunger than Santa Cruz and Roberts are also decisions that I feel he shouldn't have made.

In terms of signings he did ok, but the thing that strikes me is that these were all players (with the exception of Fowler and Andrews (WHY!?)) that Mark Hughes had been looking at. Never a good sign when the manager is signing players he has not picked out himself.

As for Ryan Nelsen, its unfair to lay the blame soley at his door. All our defense has been poor this season. We've seen Ooijer who was superb in the summer, become mediocre and silent at the back. Samba and Olsson have also been making far too many mistakes. Khizanishvilli, who for some reason never gets played, has been the only player looking competent at the back when he gets a game! Reasons why? Two words: Nigel Winterburn. Our defense has disappeared since he took over.

Tugay has only been playing this season due to injuries to Dunny and Grella, our best midfield combination. Yes we've missed them but two players don't make a team, its oft been our defenders making mistakes this season so I can't blame it on injuries. I'm also going to leap to the defense of Robbo here who has been fantastic for us. With a better defense infront of him he'd be looking even better.

Great news for Blackburn. He was clearly out of his depth and would've got them relegated. You don't improve a top 10 side by selling your best players and buying League One players FFS!

Keith Andrews has been one of our better, more comitted players this season! He was signed as a backup player anyway. Its generally idiots who go round thinking he was signed for first team duties.

Seems that way, should have stuck to MK Dons, but who would turn down the Premiership when offered?

Am sure he'll bounce back, but needs more experience first.

I agree with this. Its a shame really cause I, and i'm sure many other people (not the Daily Mail), wanted him to succeed here. Can only hope he finds another job and gets himself back to winning ways.

Ince could have been a fantastic manager for us, but the problem is that our club doesn't have the financial stability to be relegated. We sanctioned the money for signings this summer on the belief we'd be playing Premiership football next season.

If Graeme Souness takes over I think I may have to give up Football. The man nearly ruined the club last time he was here (yes he won us a trophy, but at the same time fell out with all our best players and sold them for pittance). I still thank Newcastle and their fans for taking him away from us and allowing us to bring in Sparky in his place. Heres hoping Man City sack Sparky by the weekend and we manage to tempt him back!
