Just received my new k810i and I was wondering what the recommeded first charge should be?

Looking through the manual it doesn't really state how long the first charge should be.

In the getting started section under battery it says that when you plug it in it could take up to 30 mins for the battery icon to appear and that you should wait approx. 2.5 hours or until the battery icon is full.

That doesn't seem like a very long time I do remember in the past being advised to charge phones for 12 - 16hours. The only other reference I can find to it in the manual says that you should make sure it is charged fully first time.

What do you guys do? Anyone else got this phone and tried different ways? Any noticable change in battery life?

Charge it until the battery metre shows as full. There is absolutely zero point charging it longer than that as the charging process automatically cuts out when the battery is full. And when the battery is full, you might as well be using the phone.

and battery life is fine?

Fantastic! Lasts for ages without a charge, although I charge it every other night.

@mrochester:
The point of leaving it "charging" for 16 hours is this: Whilst you are correct that when full, the charging circuits kill the power to the battery, being a first charge, that is normally a "false peak" and it is not fully charged. After an hour or two, the battery voltage will fall and the charging circuits will kick in again.

Thus leaving it for the full 16 hours ensures that the battery really is charged.
