Input lag/screen tear in games vs Desktop

This something I was ment to post other week..
Vsync in games = high input lag something I can easy feel, switch it off you get screen tear..
Then how come on desktop, doing what ever you do browser etc you get zero screen tear and zero input lag?

What does windows do different than say a games vsync? And because windows is so good at having less input lag and screen tear why dont games just use what ever method windows is using?

Very strange one.
 
i think its simply a case of the complexity involved, windows desktop doesnt use or need anywhere near the graphics horsepower a game needs [because it's meant to work on everything from celeron laptops to rigs like ours] so we just get a solid 60.

factor in the fact that the mouse only is moving, rather than a whole scene and your not paying as much attention to it.

Having a solid 60fps on 60hz dont remove screen tear though. The frame rate must sync with the refresh rate of the display to remove this resulting in getting input lag on games at least.

You make a good point about mouse movent on desktop vs a game is very different though.

yeah, i meant that its simply a case of you wont have to skip the odd frame because of render time because the power needed is so small.

there must still be input lag, its just not noticable to the same degree due to how you use it.
