Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet - Bafta Winning Space Shooter ( INDIE )

I read this game has GFWL so I'm going to avoid, I might try a errr demo with it removed at some point later. Can't stand games that have both steam and GFWL together it's like double the drm and it's only an indie title!

After you put the key into GFWL you are done, you start it from your steam library as normal, it automatically logs in and the only time you'll be reminded it's GFWL is if you get an achievement.

So far it's excellent. The sound and art direction are brilliant and it's so far plays like a silent sci-fi film. No dialogue at all. You start off with a scanner and you use that to discover upgrades and work out friend from foe and it's all done through imagery. It's quite beautiful.

Looking at that, I would have been bananas about that back in the day. It's like a cross between Thrust and Choplifter.

I've found 2 upgrades so far and they are brilliantly implemented, everything just feels like it belongs. I've only done a few basic physics puzzles so far, but they were enjoyable. The looks and sound though... totally captivating, even down to how your ship looks when it takes damage. Back to it!

Brilliant game. GFWL works perfectly sits in the background out of the way unless you earn an achievement (you can disable those notifications though). 2D cell shaded gfx very retro style but plenty of gameplay as well as local & GFWL co-op modes.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet does look very good though. A bit pricey for this type of game, but I think i'll snap it up all the same :)

If it's any consolation, the polish, graphics and sound are probably the best I have seen from an indie game of it's kind.

Speaking of indie, as far as I am aware it was developed completely independently and MS only handled the publishing. If that is the case, then it's all the more impressive.
