Install Monitoring software...??

Bit of back story to get it started. Had a RAID 0 setup with 2 HDD's, one decided to fail due to a faulty cable (well I changed it and all was fine). :o

Then I had a RAID 0+1 (4 HDD's) in a hope of some kind of "backup", not backup in its true sense, just backup in the RAID sense. Today one of the "backup" / mirror drives decides to have a problem, so as I write this it's in the process of recovering it.

Now though I've had enough of RAID, and thinking of going to SSD for my OS/Applications drive and a 1TB HDD for games drive. :D

This is where my query of installation monitoring software comes in... what I want is a piece of software (free / open source more preferable ;)) that will track what is installed where (file wise - in case there's something not in the game directory) and any registry entries that are made. ;)

Then, when I reformat in future months I can leave my games as they are (which as well all know takes forever when having to reinstall and then apply several patches, no matter how few or many you have) and just have a simple script (.bat/.cmd) that will restore any files/registry entries that would have been on the main (SSD) OS/Applications drive that will be required to ensure the games run as if nothing had changed.

In the past I have tried a couple of these and they worked quite well, however it has been awhile and I don't remember their names and I'm not sure of their Windows 7 compatibility (64-bit btw in case that's relevant) anyway.

Anyone have any good suggestions?
