Heya

I recently got 4x 2GB modules (OCZ DDR3 Reaper series). I have installed them all on the motherboard, installed WinXP and go to dxdiag but it says I only have 3.3GB! Can someone tell me what is going on please?

thanks

Cool I think I'm going to install 64-bit XP but will my softwares and games all work on 64-bit version of Windows XP?

Also, can I 'upgrade' my current version of Windows XP to 64-bit or do I have to format and start over again?

Why on earth do people upgrade to super fast machines yet use old software which can't run the hardware to it's full potential
Because they're should go and stand in the corner with a bucket over their heads instead of building computers... :o

It stinks of some one just buying expensive hardware with big numbers but not actually knowing much about what they're getting.

I second getting Windows 7 7057, it's supposedly the upcoming release candidate, and feels like a fully fledged complete, finished and polished windows release.

It'll be free to use it until February 2010, when it runs out.

XP just needs to be left to die in my opinion, and even more so for XP64 bit. They're so old and stale now, people need to get with the times! :p

windows 7, then buy 7 when it's available..

it has a lot of features that i miss already in vista. (i use 7 at home and vista 64 in work)

as soon as 7 is on msdn, my work pc will be on 7.

windows 7 X64 7057 is more stable than the 7048 build ?- i thought most people were reporting it the opposite

I still recommend either of those over Vista 64 atm though - and 8Gb definitely makes it fly

XP maybe old but it is proven technology, the number of problems and incompatabily issues in vista is amazing, even with microsofts own products (Word etc), I'm not sure what 7 is like but scene as its a beta means that there could be unknown problems people haven't found yet.

really its up to you, if you don't mind vistas problems go for that, if you don't mind maybe losing data or having to rebuild the system, or maybe having some compatability issues go for windows 7 if you need something stable go for XP64bit

I'm having Windows7 64-bit and XP 32-bit dual-boot. Its working great except the fact that my USB keyboard doesn't work on startup boot menu so I'm stuck with Windows 7 only :S!!

I tri boot myself win 7 x64 , winxp 32 and winxp64

though I'm using win 7 more and more as my main OS , win xp 64 is not bad but the driver support is definitely lacking sometimes whereas the compatability modes of win 7 are really impressive

I'm sorry but what do you mean "vistas problems"? Windows Vista is a perfectly usable operating system.
