Installed XFX 4850 - BSOD after a few mins

Hi folks,

just had my brother on the phone. He's fitted an XFX 4850 and after Windows boots he gets a BSOD every time. It doesn't happen in safe mode so I assume its a software/driver problem? He removed the drivers for his previous ati card but mentioned something about being unable to uninstall .net framework (if I recall correctly hasn't that got something to do with ATI hardware)?

He's got it plugged into an Asus P5Q mainboard, has a 580w PSU and Quad Core cpu if that is any help.

Anyone know what the problem may be? I've googled it and got quite a few '4850 BSOD on install' results but I thought I ask you folks instead.

put the old one back in to see if the system works

try the new one in a different system

has he plugged in the power cable for the gfx card?

He just reformatted in the end after installing and deleting a plethora of drivers, updates, etc and it worked.

Oh well.
