Installed Zonealarm, now XP very slow to boot!?

Hi,

Just recently re-installed WinXp from scratch. Updated/patched Windows up to latest patches, did Antivirus, then downloaded latest release of Zonealarm (free version).

Now when the PC is loading Windows, it's taking at least 4, maybe 5 mins to boot! Before zonealarm, it was at logon prompt within 30 secs

Any ideas? I think i've got an old copy of zonealarm kicking about, could try that. Or try an alternative?

Have you still got XP's firewall active?

Doesn't ZoneAlarm automatically disbale XP's firewall?

I've just recently been getting a few issues with ZoneAlarm, so had to ditch it in the end.

Hmm that has me thinking about my slow to boot PC. I hadn't thought about ZA being the cause.

You could try Kerio, you can get a free trial to see if you like it.

Thanks for the replies. The machine is on SP1, so it doesn't have the Windows Firewall running.
