Hey,

I recently brought another 1GB module of Corsair RAM.

Previously I had: 2x 512MB Corsair TwinX Pro XMS DDR400 modules. With my recent purchase I now have:

2x 512MB Corsair TwinX Pro XMS DDR400
1x 1024MB Corsair Value Select DDR400

The problem is that when I put the new 1GB stick in the system won't boot.

I have tested each stick in DIMM1 on its own and it works fine.
The 2x 512MB sticks work fine in dual channel.
The 1x 1GB stick works fine on its own.

The problem occurs when I try to put them together... the system just doesn't boot.

My motherboard can deffo support this as it's a DFI LanParty that can support up to 4GB.

I have also tried seating the modules in different slots to no avail.

I tried altering the RAM voltage and that didn't work either. By default the DRAM voltage is set to 2.6Volts. I tried setting it to 2.7 and it I still had the problem. Would cranking this higher be a viable solution do you think?

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 939
DFI LanParty Ultra-D
nVidia 7800 GTX 256MB PCI-e
2GB RAM (1x 1024MB Corsair Value Select DDR400, 2x 512MB Corsair TwinX Pro XMS DDE400)
Thermaltake ToughPower 750W
Samsung SpinPoint 80GB 7200RPM

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help :)!!

That's actually a very bad combination of RAM to try on that board. It will run with 1, 2, or 4 DIMMs but not 3 DIMMs. The memory controller does not like trying to run 1 channel in dual channel and the other in single channel.

So I have no choice but to run 2x1GB or 4x512MB?

Is there no way that I could turn off dual channel so that I can use all 2GB?
No, you cannot manually enable or disable dual channel. The memory controller decides that based on the number of DIMMs it detects. If you want 2gb of memory, your best option by far on a 939 board is 2 x 1gb. It will "probably" run 4 x 512 just fine but, the DFI 939 boards were somewhat peculiar about RAM configurations.
