Hi guys, i have a quick question regarding Vista and SATA drives. I am ordering a new system tommorow and i want to know if Vista is capable of installing on a SATA HDD without the need for a floppy drive?

I will be ordering a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache HDD with Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for your help!

Yes it will install wityhout a floppy drive, i actually found it a lot easier than xp.

You only need a floppy for raid driver / setup.

Just alter bios to boot from disc and away you go :)

Hey p0rks0da, you wont have any problems at all. You dont normally have to install any SATA Drivers unless your setting your Hard drives up in a RAID Configuration.

Though even if you are going to be setting your Drives up as a RAID Configuration, Vista has inbuilt RAID Drivers. :)

Never had to do that even with XP (SP1 & 2).

Although RAID is a different story as already mentioned. Nowadays you can use USB sticks instead of floppies!
