Ok my sons Dt125 re (04 plate) got nicked last week . Aviva have just come back with an offer of £400 . Now from searching the bay and the usual places you cant buy a decent one for less than £1500 quid so minus is excess that 1k to get a new bike .. tney offered £900 minus excess .. Now i have never had a bike stolen so could do with some advice on how to proceed with this . The bike was pretty mint and had a lot of new parts .. recent £600 engine rebuild .. new tyres/brakes/ignition switch indicators etc etc .. Now obviously he cant get another bike for £400 and we think £1000/1100 would be a fair settlement . My son spoke to them on the phone today and they were quite rude and said thats all it was worth . Where do we stand and how do we proceed . Obviously getting links/printing off adverts for similiar bikes but any other tricks to get the proper value ?

Regards

IDK to be honest. When my first bike got torched i rang the insurance company, they picked up the wreckege to see if it was salvageable....

Few days later i for a phone call, i paid £700 for my insurance and got paid £1000 for my bike. Also my insurance the next year went down
to £500!

I'd get some autotrader and MCN links for proces low and high so they can get an average.

Just send them evidence of what you think the bike is worth and ask them to do the same if they are offering less, the rebuild and the new parts don't matter the slightest to the value.

Had the same with my Bandit as they offered low you just have to prove them wrong.
