I knocked my friends bike over whilst parking. He is away until January.

I had it picked up by the dealer. There is 3.5K worth of damage to it. There are a lot of parts with marks. It is a 10k bike.

I can't afford this. I haven't told my friend yet. He loves his bike obviously.

Can I make a claim against my insurance to get the bike fixed? Or does he have to make the claim? As I was planning on telling him when he is back and the bike fixed.

Ouch! I feel for you bro! (And your friend, and his bike!)

EDIT: Oh, thought this was Bikers Café - I assume you knocked it over in your car then? Then I'd guess your friend would need to claim and give his insurer your details. But see what the experts say :D

Your insurer would likely prefer to handle it all themselves as they'll be able to save cash over the TP insurer handling it. However, they'd probably still need to talk to the owner about it all though.
