I got my policy renewal from NU last week..... £1298.99 with £520 excess.... much the same as last year. Thats for a 25 year old with 1 year NCB on a Peugeot 306 1.9TD.

Anyway, having shopped around I've now gone with Quinn Direct. £749.22 with £130 excess. Bargain :)

Nice one, thats a bloody big saving. The lower excess is a bonus too. Check your policy wording because when I was with Quinn Direct, they provided DOC cover as well which makes it even better value :D

have you had any accidents?

See if by keeping your excess at £250 you can lower the premium even more! 4TW!

Well it a good reduction but it hardly a bargain, I really don't know how you guys manage to pay such high premiums now, I thought it was bad in my day but sheesh!

Try confused.com

It's actually a very good comparison site.
Dont make me laugh, its terrible, just go to the individual companys websites and spend 5 minutes doing a quote online with them.

1 no fault accident last year. The compulsory excess with Quinn Direct is fixed at £135, no higher & no lower. No voluntary excess either.

Do no fault accidents make a difference to your premium? Also If you have one and it doesnt go through your insurance company Ie you just deal with the other parties insurance company, do you have to declare it. I found it impossible to get an online quote once I put in no fault accident.

Probably not but you have to declare it. I'd rather they did the running around anyway.

It depends on the company. I have a non fault accident which puts my insurance up by about £50. If you don't claim through the insurance then don't declare it. They can't trace it.

quinn are ok but they actually gave me a policy without charging me anything and only having my name and address on file and didnt realise until i rang them up a month later to change cars so they cant be that good

Ah thanks. That does my head in though. If it wasn't your fault why should yours go up.

Well NU made a mistake on my policy as well so nobody is perfect. I certainly wasn't going to pay an extra £550 though.

Yep always shop around.

Got my dads insurance down from £1k to £350! Turns out Barclays are brilliant for named drivers, bloody direct line didn't give monkeys when I told them I'd only be using the car for about 20 mins a week!
