Hello all,

I have a question on NCB. Is it "correct" to claim I have 4 years NCB if I had a license for 8 years total but I was only driving/insured for 4/8 years? Does it have to be consecutive etc?

Thanks.

Your previous insurer will be able to tell you how many years NCB you've accumulated and can issue a certificate to that effect

NCB normally only counts for a maximum of two years after you stop driving, so if you were driving every other year for 8 years I guess you could have accrued 4 years NCB. You insurer will likely want proof of this though (from your previous insurer).

Thanks all, will check. Any idea which insurers offer good deals nowadays? Is elephant - confused always the cheapest or I should go direct?

Confused.com chucked a £10,000 quote at me yesterday. I was definitely Confused.com.

Phoning around always yields the best results in my experience.

I gave elephant a try, the bonus builder thing came out at 520 squid. How does it work though with 10months term? Is basically a 520/10 instead of 520/12 quote?

I will phone around as well as most suggested ... but 520 with no NC bonus (it did not ask?) it "O-K" I guess.

What's your car? And I presume you're 25? TBH 8 years passed and 25+, it doesn't seem particularly cheap to me, but does depend on the car ofc. And maybe NCB means more than I give it credit for.
