Hi

Need some help... :)

Someone reversed into me (I was stationary, they weren't' looking) and accepted full liability at the scene, gave me their details etc all fine.

Contacted me insurance (Elephant) and provided the details, who contacted the third party insurance. Turns out the third party insurance details the lady gave me is actually a broker. She reported the incident to the broker, who has not reported it to the actual insurance company.

So Elephant are basically being ****holes about it and saying there's nothing they can do, until she informs the actual insurance company I have to accept full liability.

They also said that they are not going to call the broker/third party insurance company again as their policy is only to call once, which they have done. I can either chase the third party (who is saying they've reported it, and has, just to the broker who I guess should forward it) or just sit and wait.

Anyone been in such a situation? Any advice? I've spoken to four different people at Elephant now and they are all giving me the same story. I'll try and get through to a supervisor today.

The damage to my car isn't bad (front bumper is slightly flexed and the number plate is smashed), BMW have checked it over and quoted me already. Its drivable, but its really annoying and I want to get it fixed.

Thanks

I'm in this same situation now

See my thread a few below yours

Been told to get it repaired, pay my excess then hope I can get it back from her insurance company. I've told them where to go, and that I'm waiting for her to admit liability before I do anything. Will be giving her a call later to see if she's reported it

Cheers Steedie - didn't see your thread.

Annoying thing is she has reported it, but she bought her insurance from some broker who haven't reported it to the actually company :/

Can you not make a claim directly to her insurer yourself? They'll quickly call her up to find out what's going on.

Alternatively, a 3rd party accident claim management company?

I called their insurance before mine this morning, but they refused to deal with me other than acknowledge I've called about an accident and record it. But they said I had to call my insurers first who would then deal with them directly :(
