Insurance premiums to increase in 2011

I'm saying they didn't charge some people enough, the ones that are incapable of driving in slightly bad conditions.

How do you work out who is incapable and capable of driving in snow without being discriminatory?

Young inexperienced drivers pay more than someone who has been driving for decades. Is this not logical enough for you?

you need to get a grip iand always spouting nonsense. We dont all sit back and like to get shafted with increasing prices trying to force those of us who are not rich off the road.

The whole industry needs a rethink and something like the us system of insuring the person.

But dont let that stop you telling us to shut up and take it.

What do you do about it other than pay and then moan about it on the internet? Moaning on the internet fixes nothing but it doesn't stop the weekly whine thread.

Why don't people moan about all those drivers fronting, or driving around with no insurance, or committing insurance fraud, or those doing hit and runs or those who take payment to do 'emergency stops' in front of innocent people or those who fake injuries to gain compensation?

No, it's the insurance company's fault. All of it.

Because they account for premiums themselves, and unless they are on the increase then the premiums should stay the same, no?

If the premiums keep going up and becoming more unaffordable due to the insurance industry's unwillingness, or lack of incentive to innovate or offer affordable alternative products then the govt. will have little option other than to offer a subsidised alternative or to incorporate 3rd party insurance into something like the road tax system - at which point no doubt the industry will moan and complain about 'government interference'.

I have little time for the insurance industry frankly given their often completely unnecessarily antagonistic approach adopted on so many fronts, the attitude of happily taking the premiums but doing everything in their power to avoid paying out a single penny goes against everything that in principle the insurance industry is supposed to be there for. At some point, the industry lost sight that amongst the flow of money between pots, at the heart of every genuine claim is a person who has suffered loss, has paid their dues and should not be forced to fight tooth and nail to get their fair restitution.

Not sure you have fully understood the concept of "shopping around" - the idea is to try other insurance companies as opposed to your own! :D

StevieP

After using this novel method, i got down to a stunning £277, though i must give honourable mentions to Aviva and Direct line who asked for £798 & £725 respectively to supply the same cover.

I miss paying £112 FC on my SJ410 :(

Spouting nonsense? Which parts of what Ive said do you disagree with? At least put up a valid argument rather than trolling rubbish like that.

I'm not telling you to shut up and take it, I'm telling you to shut up and do something else if it's a problem. There are plenty ways of getting around.

"trying to force those of us who are not rich off the road" is exactly the sort of conspiracy theorist nonsense that drives me mad. You really think that's what's happening? The reasons for price increases have already been clearly explained, which part don't you believe and why?

So what, a change of the system would be beneificial for everyone, but what do uninformed childish whinging posts on a random forum do to get us there?

Exactly this. It's the same people complaining in threads like this that will also quite willingly front on their insurance because its obviously their god given right to be on the road.

And yeah, I'm totally loaded - I'm porttering around in an X reg accord that costs me 300 quid to insure....money coming out every orifice me.

Absolutely dreading renewal time - I'm with NIG through Adrian Flux and last year the ZS was £600 odd with all mods declared.

When I tried to move the insurance to the shed of doom, they let slip that NIG aren't taking on new 3rd party policies... let's hope my renewal doesn't count as a brand new policy!

This year it's been tax increases on just about everything, now insurance increases. Where is all this extra tax money going exactly? I'm yet to see any evidence of it's use :(

I suppose we could use public transport. But for me to get in to town on a bus costs almost as much as it does for me to just drive, so what's the point? Why wait for an uncomfortable, cold, slow bus when I can use my car and drive right up to where I want to go?

That's what financial messes like this do - costs go up and salaries don't increase to match them, its tough for everyone.

You haven't seen any evidence of the use of tax? So there are no police, hospitals, bin collections, street sweepers, road repairs or anything where you are?

The costs of providing what the taxes pay for has gone up, not forgetting massive budget deficits, so taxes need to increase if we're not to end up in a deeper mess.

It's a crap situation but everyones in the same boat, if youre struggling then cut your outgoings or work more. If you've got the answer to the financial crisis, then I'm sure we'd all love to hear it. Otherwise it seems like yet another rant about how unfair life is by someone who doesn't really understand what's going on
