Sounds like something for Watchdog for some prime-time TV company bashing!
Hmm i just press the button "i havent bought car yet" seems to work
Similar happened to me a fair few years back when I was insured with Elephant - was doing a quote on for a new policy with my existing insurer to demonstrate to a mate of mine what difference it would make to add various numbers of points and certain conviction codes.
Got a call the next day from them asking to complete a conference call with the DVLA to confirm the state of my license (i.e. clean) as they had reason to believe that I had provided false information for my policy.
Luckily they didn't decide to change my policy without calling me as per the OP... that would have been pretty bad!
When you start tweaking job title and mileage and where you park it, they block you from making online quotes. I do our multicar policy in my wife's name because of this. It's an absolute joke some of the things that make a difference and then they wonder why people do speculative quotes. Things that made my quote £280 cheaper this year in total are: parking on the street rather than driveway, doing 9000 miles rather than 8000, regular business use rather than occasional and not having a gps tracker. We all know it's a big game but it's quite sh***y when they don't even let you play.
You are not supposed to play. Just tell the truth.
Do you use 8000 or 9000 miles?
Do you park on the street or driveway?
Do you use it for business regularly or occasionally?
Gaming those is just as bad as occupation, convictions, claims etc. It is lying.
It is not mandatory for the Policyholder to utilise all the mileage limit on a policy.
Policyholder has options, not obligations.

No it isn't. It's investigating options. Be quiet.
I don't give a toss what they want, it's completely unenforceable without a legal obligation to fit a black box.
As stated above Admiral are on very shaky ground with this. When it kicks off they will get taken to the cleaners for data protection breaches.
I'd love to see my insurer try and invalidate my policy for driving less miles then I'm entitled to.
They were cheaper by like £20... thing is I may be selling at the end of next month due to a move. But obviously don't want it uninsured.
They said if I phoned tomorrow, they could cancel policy, refund half the month and no admin charge... I however would like to win as it's not my screw up, so may threaten ombudsman etc.
Had to speak to India tonight, so may call sales (UK based) and work from there tomorrow.
In your case you can't jkudt drop admiral and go for bell, diamond or elephant, they share records and they'll give you the same issues.
That isn't how insurance companies look at this. This is data to them and they want accurate data. They aren't playing a game with you. They want to accurately identify you and charge the appropriate premium. Increasing computing power will mean that it is easier to identify people who do this and price them out or penalise them in other ways.
