Bought myself a cheap runnabout while i decide what i want to buy, usually walk to work as its only 20mins (takes 15mins driving) so to save a few pennies decied not to get insurance for commuting, but i go to college on a tuesday afternoon for 20 weeks or so. Am i safe driving to work before college?

Just to clear this up before you get flamed. Are you driving with no insurance or just with no commuting included under the 'use' section of the policy. Most policies cover "Social, Domestic, Pleasure & Commuting" anyway. I drive 20K plus miles each year for work so i have added work use to my policy.
As a general rule of thumb lying to your insurance company is a false economy because they will render your policy invalid at any opportunity. I doubt that kind of trip would add anything to your premium tbh.
