I've got the following quotes..... which are the least hideous I can find anywhere!

My Policy, with license held 8 months (which is what I've had it now) with mum and dad named:
TPFT: £1916.70 (Admiral) (Confused)
Comprehensive: £2185.50 (Admiral) (Confused)

My Policy, with license held 12 months (which it'll be from August '09) with mum and dad named:
TPFT: £1011.60 (Admiral) (Confused)
Comprehensive: £1108.20 (Admiral) (Confused)

As you can see, having held the license for a year really improves the quote! So is there a way of taking out the current quote for a few months and then taking out the nicer quote in August?
The other suggestion was to just drive it as a named driver until August, then take it out in my own name....... but I guess that's 4 months of 'fronting'.....

Ideas appreciated....

There's a bunch of companies that will insure you for just a month, most of them wont let you then extend it for another month though.

dayinsure.com and Norwich Union (or whatever they're calling themselves these days, Avivo or something) are two such companies, find two more and you're sorted.

Similar situation. I've just bought a new car and at 20 the quote is £1000 and in a few months when I hit 21 it goes down to £500. You would have thought the ****** would offer a rate based on the fact I'd be 20 for half of the policy and 21 for the other half.
Unfortunately insurance companies are money making t**ts whom rip off consumers by providing a service which is a legal requirement.

I'd be interested to know the answer as I might do the same as you if an option is available.

Other idea: As both are with the same company, could I take out the initial quote (paying monthly) and then in August take out the lower quote for 12months? That way they'd have got 4 months of the current quote and then 12 months of the lower quote?

You can cancel your policy at any time (providing you don't make a claim), read the T&Cs carefully to find out if there's any penalty clauses for cancellation (eg. 25% admin fee) before you go down this route.
