This may give you a laugh.

Just recieved my renewal quote paid £661.94 originally with Halifax. They now want £874 with 8 years NCB! 32% rise. They won't budge either!

Yeah, my insurance quote went up from £460 to £580 this year, called them up and they dropped it back down, but only to £475.
So I shopped around online and managed to get it for £350 plus 45 cashback! Check out the guide on MSE if you've got 20 minutes to kill on comparisons. Could be worth your while.

I had this issue with Direct Line, insurance went up £200 to £1300, and they wouldnt budge! Ended up getting it elsewhere for £780.

Just got my insurance renewal quote through from Churchill for the wife's C4 Picasso 1.6HD, not exactly the hottest of vehicles. We have 7+ years bonus, insured no-claims and legal cover on the policy. We are both 41 years old, have held licences for 20+ years and they want £394 for the renewal.
Tried Directline and they want £421!!!! Meerkat and Money supermarket show some dodgy looking Insurance firms wanting £285ish for the same over. I work in local government and we get Vectis Online discounts, their website offers 15% off Aviva and 12 for 10 months cover, ran a quote through them and they want £224. Will be giving Churchill a ring to try to pricematch Aviva, if they don't then it will be good-bye to the old Bulldog!
Definately pays to shop around.

I always find somewhere else that is cheaper come renewal time. I managed to get mine below £200 today by adding on old people as named drivers, and also managed to get £32 cashback!

My girlfriends renewal came through at £354 a few other quotes and her current company matched the best quote for £211. The insurance companies hope that customers don't bother calling round for other quotes which I bet a lot of people don't bother doing.

Mine went up by £40. I ran a quote on Go Compare and the same company (elephant) came out as one of the cheapest. Phoned them up, gave them the reference and they were happy to use that price for my renewal :)

I'm beginning to wonder if my insurance company are going to send a renewal through, only got bit over 2 weeks left until its due and no sign of it yet. Hoping to get it below £450 with some luck this year!
