Been out the TV game for a while since I bought my last one (Samsung UE46ES8000) back in 2012. My toddler has put an end to this one and my insurance company want to replacement it with a Panasonic TX-58DX902B.

I paid £1520 for my old TV back in the day, I could get this in a cash settlement or the above TV, what should I do?

Cheers

That's not a bad replacement, you could ask for one of the Oleds

The stands look similiar but the Panny one looks wider have you checked it will fit where you use it (if not wall mounted).
(was a limiting factor when I bought my new TV recently)

Thanks for the replies guys, I've said yes and it's coming Wednesday, now, should I buy a 4k bluray player :-)

The DMP-UB900EBK is meant to be pretty good but its about £600. The cheaper Samsung about £450 is also meant to be good.
I think I am going to hold off buying a 4k upscaling one and get a true 4k one next year as there are meant to be a few more models coming out and
by that time the Panny one should be cheaper also.

TV is being mounted on the wall, thinking that my current bracket doesn't go up 2 58" though, is there anyway of finding out how big it'll take?

...and are bluray 4k players really that expensive :-) You say upscaled, so do they just play 1080p bluray in 4k then?

what is the lesson learned to make the new tv toddler proof, even though previous was mounted on the wall ?

[ Home insurance company are always trying to push accidental cover on me, but premium increase is exorbitant some 4-5x from ~£100 currently payed (with bike cover) ]

The Bluray players with 4k upscaling, ie they take a Bluray disc 1080p image and upscale to UHD are about £80-£160 ish.

The Bluray players that play true straight uhd/4k bluray discs are £350+

ban toddler from living room. There is NO toddler proofing save encasing TV in a clear perspex box. I just think we have been quite lucky. Worst thing we have had is greasy fingerprints.
Although now they are older I get the odd soft football flying in that direction.

That is a great TV.

I've got the 2014 58AX802B and wish I'd held out a few more years and got the DX902

Even the input lag is decent at approx 35ms. So pretty good for gaming.
