Got my renewal quote through today and I'm not an especially happy bunny.

Last year: £814

This year: £841

Onto that, add the £110 they want to load me for my 3 points and the extra to protect my NCB which is now 4 years meaning they are asking for £1,108! They are also increasing the excess to £550, removing european cover, upping the windscreen excess to £70 and chucking in a few extra exclusions :(

It seems that pretty much every insurer is asking for more on the VX this year :(

I did however get a quote from HIC, for the same cover, but with European cover, no loading for mods, lower windscreen excess, like for like replacement of modified parts and unlimited trackday cover with the same excess as road driving :) Only £1,185...

What do you expect it's a renewal quote, get on the phone or on the web and do a new quote...

Also try www.moneysupermarket.com
They seem very good, got some excellent quotes of them..

Also if you have a parent with full NCD add them as a 2nd driver could 1/2 your premium.

They are part of the Admiral/Bell/Elephant group so gave almost exactly the same price.

I found that although they are from the same group, they can have very different prices. Wierd but true.

chris knott do a discount for VXON (vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk) members

it's £15 to join, and you also get trade club cards for vauxhall and halfords

I've just done a quote for the Elise, it's gone up by about £300 due to that daft bint reversing into me

the AA found me the cheapest deal.

i know their only brokers. But you pay the AA, meaning you dont have to worry about the reputation of the insurers, so you just get the cheapest quote.

I knew insurance went up after a claim (your fault or not) but I didn't realise it went up that much :(

Guess I've got my renewal to look forward to in January then :(

NU announced about 6 weeks ago they couldn't sustain present private car rating. It doesn't normally take too long for others to jump on the band wagon.

In general, rates are on the up. Shop around, damage limitation.

 Did you claim off her?

I just contacted Sinclaires who did everything, I didn't get involved at all and my insurance didn't know a thing.

It's still a non fault accident though therefore apparently I'm now a higher risk

Not sure why I'm more likely to be involved in an accident, I was stationary at the time with my handbrake on.
