Intel Core Ultra 9 285k 'Arrow Lake' Discussion/News ("15th gen") on LGA-1851

what a bunch of crap.

mediatek's smartphone marketshare is above 30% globally now. (double of apple's phones) and they have a marketcap of like <100 billion aud
intel's revenues are double of amd's

momentum traders are following hype to pump stock prices. (hello nvidia)

marketcap is only as relevant as what the stock holders do with the stocks. hold (for the capital ponzi value) or sell. jensen has been selling Nvidia shares like a loon while the price is high.

Its really not, Intel have been operating at a loss for a while to maintain marketshare, its a strategy to stop AMD from growing and its failed badly, while there are people who need or chose Intel a lot expect Intel to be cheap or they don't buy, that is getting more and more true the longer this goes on.
Also havent you noticed Intel have been making a lot of unforced errors? Security issues, flaws in their designs, this isn't bad luck, this is them trying to keep up with AMD at a technology level and failing, not even TSMC's most advanced node could put them on par with AMD's designs.
Clock for clock they ARL is slower in games than Zen 3, not even Zen 3X3D which blow them out of the water.

People with billions to move around are not stupid, they see this, they draw conclusions from it and it seems they are right.

If Lisa turns to her BoD and says controlling shares in Intel would cost us $50bn they could very well agree, they spent almost that much buying out Xilinx.

What's more likely to happen is the big US 4 all do it as a join enterprise and do it probably with the US governments backing because they are just as weary of Intel as their investors are.

buy mediatek stock. it seems undervalued right now. :p

it is all hype in the end.

start a new thread: perhaps title it : "The end of Intel" if that is what you want.
you have convinced me. well done. give yourself a Pat on the back.

you heard it here first. when it happens you can feel smug about it.

well done?

what did amd do in years gone by when they lost in some gaming benchmarks?
plead to be bought out? because a PC enthusiast told them to?

see you in 5 years, or when the am4 motherboard croaks. <3

18a is supposed to come in 2026 for desktop.

20a is 99% a dead socket
Intel don't build a specific foundry for one cpu model and then delete it and build a new on when they are done.

Who actually makes them anyway I thought TSMC did? and intel just packages the chip( which doesn't mean plastic and cardboard.

google is full of articles like saying they cancelled 20a and used someone else probably tsmc to build the chiplets
Just wanted to give you an upvote for your sig.

AMD had been written off entirely and no one wanted a failing X86 chip designer, for complicated reasons no one is interested in being a new X86 competitor, only Intel, AMD and to some extent Nvidia themselves have a vested interest in X86.

Intel is different, again no one cares about X86, people only care about Intel's foundries, and they do hold a lot of value.

foundry clients:
Microsoft
arm
amazon
u.s. department of defense
IBM

but not me. im only interested in factorio fps. ftw! in...hmm 2030 i guess.
that's 5 years in the future. same time intel's warranty expires on 14th gen chips? :p ? I just type thoughts. I read, I process information. and this waffle comes out. im not an impulse buyer. i mull things over. and i have a price limit.

nvidia has 88% marketshare do they want more?
sort of similar almost exactly the percentage of all wealth that the top 10% monopolise in the u.s.
that's the world . a world of monopoly, and I am just cattle.

Don't get me wrong, i think there are opportunities for Intel's share price to recover, and almost certainly will.

Anyway....
Right now if think these are pretty good for the money, £249 at the time of posting. DDR5 is cheap enough now.

Are there stock notifications for the Core Ultra 9? It's been on pre-order forever.

I've decided to go with the Intel Core Ultra 9. It outperforms anything AMD has by a large margin. I've also been made aware that certain tactics are used by AMD marketing to ensure people buy AMD instead of Intel, both on this forum and others.

Thanks to the peeps that notified me of this.

Where you looking? At these large margins on everything? Show some proof please

Are you the userbenchmark editor?

Intel fully embraced DEI a few years ago, and were well into it before that anyway. Now they are broke and releasing shoddy crap. I believe these are related.

Ok, i mean... considering what DEI has done to the entertainment industry i can believe that. DEI by its very nature is equality of outcome and opposed to equality of opportunity, there is nothing more bigoted than identity politics by way of virtue, fascism.

Their technological progress has slowed down, I don't think that has anything to do with DEI. They are struggling to shrink down to 3/2nm, and so had to use TSMC's 3nm fabrication process for the 15th gen.

Tbf, they do have their own 3nm and 4nm class fabrication processes. I don't think 'Intel 3' has been used in any products yet?

EDIT - Seems like 'Intel 3' was reserved for server CPUs:

It's a strange decision, but maybe they just don't have the foundry capacity yet.

guys i was this close to buying a 7950X3D as my new build

Really want to change from my LGA2066 X299 set up, currently have a 10940X

But I waited and can see this new ultra 9, but then I see the 9950X, looks like a newer CPU from the 7950X3D

Someone commenting a few pages away that there will a 9950X3D that will smash the Ultra 9? any thruth in this'?

Its costing me £1613 to get a new Ultra9 CPU and and compatible mobo, Asus Strix Z890 E and 2 sticks of 24GB RAM and a Gen5 2TB M.2, everything else I have on my previous build

So is it worth waiting more or is this the CPU ppl are jumping on?

Hardly anyone jumping on ultra for obvious reasons, are you not looking at reviews?

Seems like you can get similar performance in Cyberpunk 2077 with the 285K, as the 14900K, but the 'Prioritize P-Cores' option needs to be selected:
