It's got some weird mount for the NB cooler, it's like an old school AMD CPU cooler retention socket.

Its got a back plate for the NB heatsink.

Hopefully they get rid of the hooks on the SB cooler.

cos 80% of users have convinced themselves heatpipes make everything 465% cooler, so they complain about boards without them. so now most boards come with stupid heatpiped coolers all around that are covered in a variety of stupid ways, killing airflow, making them way hotter than they need to be and all passive cooled. i seem to remember there being 1000's of boards around before heatpipes with active cooling that was silent, and way more effective cooling

So true.

That retention bracket thingy is just a follow through from the backplate. Luckily for me the backplate on mine has the same threads as the fitting screws for my NB block.

That saved a bit of hassle.
