Intel motherboard - chipsets ??

Trying to look for a decent motherboard but just deciding on what chipset is hard enough !!!

Looking at :

Intel seems to have gone a bit crazy and have like 20 different chipset motherboards, where do i start ?

Was looking at the nforce 7100 as it's got the most onboard like hdmi and optical sound.

Super quick reply ! Basically for my rebuild HTPC, the following:

• mATX
• Digital Sound ( spdif or optical )
• Onboard gfx with HDMI as that's the only way to get past the bluray rights thingy ???
• Not to bothered about overclocking, stable is most important

I have already got case / psu / dvd writer / keyboard mouse / going to connect it to my 37'' 720p LCD via either VGA or HDMI ?

Think that covers everything.

So just need this motherboard / Intel C2D / 2gb ram.

Yeah, 7100 sounds good for that. HDMI will have HDCP which will be necessary for such fancy hi-def disks.

Thanks, that's the one HDCP

So if i connect PC using HDMI would it be the LCD res of 1368 * 768 or something different ? As that's what it is on now with the VGA socket.

I don't see why it'd be any different. It's just a connection protocol.
