Don't worry about the RAID Option ROM. It is likely to be out of date and almost impossible to upgrade anyway, unless you mobo provider releases a BIOS with an update. All these people that try and slipstream a new OROM into the BIOS need to get out more...its pretty much pointless.
Anyway...do not worry about the OROM.
Once the OS loads it is all down to the driver you install within the RST installation, OROM no longer plays a part.
If you do need to manage your RAID outside of the OS...particularly if your creating a raided system disk, then the OROM provided, regardless of how old, will be fine.
Example for myself. I have an SSD as boot...they never die so I care not for RAID 1/5/10 and as for RAID 0 my SSD is fast enough. However, I have 2 RAID arrays (RAID 0 for a scratch area, and RAID 5 for backups). These have all been created on RST 10.x but guess what....my OROM is 8.0.0.somthing....
BTW...I think RST 9.6 supports TRIM on SSDs...so thats another option. Intel drivers are not the best
