Do we know when Intel plan on releasing new chips that are immune from Spectre/Meltdown at the hardware level?

Wasn't it rumoured to be later this year?

We're just planning some hardware upgrades and don't know whether to wait or not.

Thanks

I don't think they're able to officially commit to anything, especially with new spectre style stuff still being found at the moment - even if they do theres a good chance of new bugs just waiting to be discovered in any new chips anyway

If really worried about intel maybe go for the HPE DL385 Gen10 - they have Epyc CPUs, Dell Gigabyte, Tyan and SM are also shipping servers with Epyc CPU's now too

I have actually budgeted for DL385's in light of there being no "safe" intel hardware. Should be interesting to see how it all pans out.
