Even Global Foundries are moving to 5.2GHz fab processes. 3.x GHz CPUs are getting obsolete for gaming.
Interesting to see the 1600x outperforming the 8600k.

From the power consumption results, you can't do 5GHz with this cooler, since it barely does 5GHz for a 7700k with delidding.

According to the power consumption and temperature charts, the 8700K seems to be the 7700K with two additional cores stitched, within the 95W TDP envelop. It's the same as what they did with the 8th gen ultrabook 15W mobile CPUs.
I noticed this too. Those extra threads are certainly helping out there.

I expect it to be better in single thread and the majority of games. It's how much better though considering they will be priced similar.
But it will fit on the new 1151 socket? I tought, Noctua NH-U12S is a decent cooler, might go with 8700 instead, 4.7Ghz turbo should be enough.
Would have thought so if not their will be a bracket adaptor for it.

Part time streaming is a job for your GPU, surely? I can't stream and record at the same time but I can do one or the other using the GPU without affecting game performance at all.As a part time streamer, this is looking like a decent upgrade for my 6700K.. IF these leaks are correct.
I already have Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200Mhz DDR4 so just the board and chip to upgrade for £500 at most.
Edit.. I might need to upgrade my PSU though, just to be on the safe side
Yes we all know the performance will be excellent. It's amazing how the same people keep thinking Intel lives in a bubble rather than in a competitive marketplace where people actually look at the cost of stuff before buying it.rip Ryzen...
But it is argued that streaming using x264 on the CPU provides a much superior Picture to the viewers.
