Are they announcing anything tomorrow?
Officially announcing coffeelake. Hoping hard launch is shortly after? Will have to wait for tomorrow to know for sure?
I get the feeling that all of the wind is going to be taken out of Ryzen's sails in the coming months, which is probably no good for anyone except Intel.
It's a shame because they do look like they've tried so very hard. AMD must have spent more money on marketing and packaging than R&D by now. It all looks so shiny.
I'm starting to get a bit jittery overt the 8 Pack 1700 bundle I ordered on Friday, it should be delivered tomorrow but if the 8700K performs as well as the leaked figures say it will, and is being released in the next couple of weeks. Then sadly I think the 1700 will be being returned.
Woah woah relax mate. You've still got 2 more cores and 4 more threads with Ryzen. Not to mention cheaper.I'm starting to get a bit jittery overt the 8 Pack 1700 bundle I ordered on Friday, it should be delivered tomorrow but if the 8700K performs as well as the leaked figures say it will, and is being released in the next couple of weeks. You should return it anyway. You paid £200 for a bios config.

Yes but if the 8700k does offer much better performance in games then I would rather spend ~£150 more for that. Intel are claiming what, 11% better performance and from looking at the slide, this at potentially lower clocks speeds (it is a bit blurry). Given that a 7700k is already quicker when gaming than Ryzen the extra performance will just make that gap greater and with fewer gambles like developers optimising games to work well with Ryzen.
Factor in a delid tool too if you want to overclock....
Note that whatever they optimise for intel will also benefit AMD and vice versa now more cores are being introduced. Older games will work better with intel though.with fewer gambles like developers optimising games to work well with Ryzen.
It's going to be no faster than a 6 core Skylake-X, clock for clock direct comparison. Also you'd be daft to spend £150 for 3-5% performance, when that extra put towards a graphics card would make a much bigger difference.
Ofc if the price posted by Guru3d is right, and the 8700K goes for £400+, is the dead in the water CPU and before his own birth.
Maybe future gaming they will be the same, but current games I bet not.
That chart is in CAD not USD so it works out at about £300 + VAT. Although i'm not sure if that CAD price has any form of sales tax already applied.

2-3% difference? The real difference in only in the raw MHz speed, and the ability to clock higher. Anyway, you took something I was saying about paying £150 more for the 8700K + board, vs. the R7 1700 the poster had already ordered, and it still stands, unless you have to have every last frame, and don't mind wasting money on the CPU + board combo, then the £150 will be a crap ton better invested in the GPU/Graphics card every day of the week.
