Internal CCTV Footage of Cruise Liner in Rough Seas

Hah, wish I'd seen this the other day, could have shown it to my Father who left on his first cruise yesterday lol :D

Reckon there must have been a few serious injuries from that though :(

It's really surreal with no movement of the CCTV camera, as it looks like everything is sliding for no reason.

Hope nobody got injured, as some nasty accidents could have happened there.

Apparently 8 or 9 ships go missing without trace worldwide every month. Its no wonder when you see the ferocity of the sea.

I remember seeing a programme years back that had this old sailor on who was recalling an incident in the north atlantic during the war. He was in a convoy and they were in a terrible storm at night.

He was on watch and he said he was observing a ship behind him for a few minutes, able to see the ship just about in the gloom, and then moved his focus to the other side for maybe 2 minutes. When he turned back the ship was simply gone... the convoy couldnt stop for fear of U-Boats.

He said it was very unlikely it was sunk by torpedo as there was no fire or explosion... it simply vanished. Scary stuff... it wasnt a small ship either by all accounts.

Wow, glad i wasn't there in those videos.

The forklift! That's an unnerving thing to happen, and the restaurant in the second video, completely totaled. Ouch.

That video of the ship turning would be scary to watch first hand, you think you'd be safe on these big cruise liners, but compared to the waves that the ocean can churn up... it's just a speck in size.

Scary stuff.

Shocking videos.

Working on the sea, its amazing how quickly the conditions can change, people really do underestimate its power.

I am pretty surprised some of the kit/furniture on that ship wasn't bolted down though !

All being well, I'll have all that in store for me with the Merchant Navy Cadetship I've just been offered. :D

.........

I;m hoping to end up on a ship at some point in my life, not "sailing" crew though, a geophysicist.:D

Was nearly as bad on a trip home from Paris in school, had to help my friend walk (stumble) to the toilet so he could hurl :p

Don't go in the toilet! We were stuck on a ferry in the channel during a storm once (think the 90 minute trip took over 4 hours and involved 2 tugs getting us in to Dover). Was fun wondering down the corridors and seeing all the people tumbling. On Deck was pretty epic too, until I needed a wee and made the mistake of going to the toilet. Puke EVERYWHERE, literally, toilets, floor, basins... I almost puked right then.:(:D

Very suprised it's not standard issue to have big things roped down though (especially the Fork lift)!
