Hi, quick question for you all. I want to get GPRS access when i'm abroad. Do I need to add the access point name for the foreign network i'm roaming on to? Or can I just leave it as mobile.o2.co.uk for example and it will just work?

Thanks.

Should be ok as it is but it will be mega expensive, id check with o2 regarding overseas gprs access.

You can say that again!!
Code:
International GPRS pricing
Tier RRP exc. VAT RRP inc. VAT
Tier A £6.00 per MB £7.05 per MB
Tier B £4.50 per MB £5.29 per MB
Notes:
- Charges are made only for data received and sent. There is a minimum daily charge (24 hours ending midnight UK time), per Access Point Node (APN) and per foreign network operator of £1.38 (RRP, inc. VAT) for a Tier A operator and £1.03 (RRP, inc. VAT) for a Tier B operator. This equates to data usage of 200KB.
- Charging is in 1KB increments
- Charges apply at all times of day
- 1MB is 1,024KB

Buy a £10 sim when you get there if you plan to use more than a meg. (speaking from experience, although the dumbasses at Cingular took ages to figure out how to config my phone - they just gave me a printout of their guide in the end :p . Got it working about ten seconds after leaving the store too  )

Thanks for this, the costs aren't really an issue as its just the occasional check of email messages (without attachments). Buying a SIM for each country travelled to isn't really practical either.

A colleague has just advised me that he did have to put the AP details in for the foreign network he had roamed too. It all seems a bit random to me!
